PERSONALITY:

Ashpaw is a very laid back tom. For as young as he is, he's extremely mature. However, despite all the dreams StarClan has decided to share with him, he barely believes they exist. He will take his dreams into deep consideration whenever he has them, but he won't ever admit that they're really there. Most believe that this is because of what happened with his parents, and they are right. He actually did believe in StarClan until his parents were murdered, and that's when his heart changed. In fact, the only reason he accepted the medicine cat's offer of being their apprentice is so he could help his injured clan-mates. So no other kit has to go through what he did.

One quality about Ashpaw that you can admire is that he's a very good listener. He doesn't particularly care for helping other cats with personal problems, but somehow he always manages to do it anyway. This is something he was always capable of doing, even as a young kit. And it's what made the leader and the medicine cat agree that StarClan had greater things in store for him. Whenever his mother would get sad or worried, Ashpaw was the one who could always find the right words to say to cheer her up.

He can seem a tad rude to some cats, even though he doesn't mean to be. He tends to say whatever comes to his mind out loud, because he feels like he'll explode if he keeps it inside. Most of the time, he can avoid this by slipping away when a conversation gets too uncomfortable for him, but when he has no choice then he just can't help himself. And although he is loyal to his own Clan first, he would never abandon a cat in need; even if that cat is from a different Clan. Basically, his rudeness and inconsideration is just a front for the sensitive and kind cat he is underneath it all.

HISTORY:

Ashkit was born into a litter of two; including himself and a solid black kit they called Blackkit. His mother was a gray tabby she-cat named Heronwing, while his father was also a solid black tom named Spiderfur. These two adult cats were both fierce, loyal cats of BrookClan. The entire Clan was pleased that both the newborn kits were born healthy, and stayed that way. But, there was a darkness looming over them as their uncle, a solid black tom from BoulderClan who they called Crowfoot, heard the news of the newborn kits at the gathering that moon. He wasn't happy that he had even more unwanted kin serving a Clan different from his own, so a few moons later, he met with Heronwing and Spiderfur in secret, and demanded that Blackkit come with him to even the odds. He spoke of a darkness that would eventually grow in young Blackkit, but the two BrookClan warriors refused his offer. That was when things went from bad to worse, when Crowfoot attacked Heronwing, and although she put up a great fight, she died in his clutches. Spiderfur did his best to protect his mate, but he also died at the paws of his own brother.

The news of Heronwing and Spiderfur's gruesome murders hit the Clan hard, but they wasted no time. Ashkit and Blackkit were given a foster mother to take care of them, while the rest of the Clan went to investigate. The scents around the crime scene were unmistakably BoulderClan scent, so the leader and deputy of the time crossed through GoldenClan territory, with permission, and down into BoulderClan's valley to meet with their leader. Of course, the Clan denied everything. "This unlawful act will cost you one day," BrookClan's leader threatened, just before the pair headed back to their own territory. After they left, however, Crowfoot admitted his crime to his leader, who grew viciously angry at him for what he'd done. And surprisingly, BoulderClan banished Crowfoot.

The next moon, Ashkit and Blackkit became known as Ashpaw and Blackpaw. Ashpaw was chosen as the medicine cat apprentice right off the bat, while Blackpaw would train hard to become a warrior. That moon, Ashpaw and Blackpaw both accompanied the Clan to the gathering, where the BoulderClan leader announced that Crowfoot was the killer that BrookClan sought, and then he proceeded to announce that Crowfoot had been banished. Ashpaw then vowed that no other kit would have to go through what he did.
