<---- PANTHERSTAR
she-cat, thirty-five moons
RANK: Leader
ALLIANCE: BrookClan
LIVES LEFT: 9
APPEARANCE: Pure black she-cat with glittering green eyes.
PERSONALITY: Pantherstar is a natural born leader. She knows how to inspire confidence in herself, and though she's definitely not one of the loudest and most outspoken cats around, her quiet observational skills and calm voice do just as well to tell others to listen to her as any angry, emotion filled yowl would. She doesn't think rashly or allow misguided emotions to lead her down the wrong path and send her or her Clan mates into danger, in fact, doing so is one of her worst nightmares.
She has always been a fairly quiet cat, which often makes her thoughts hard to read because she does not show her emotions easily. She's not the first one to jump into or initiate a conversation, but usually prefers to stand by and watch it unfold. Moons of being quiet and watching the going ons of her Clan allowed her to learn to read others well, and though she's not a mind reader by far, she's generally quite good at seeing what others really mean, even if they don't voice their thoughts.
Being out in the territory and away from camp is when Pantherstar allows herself to let loose. Her personality takes a drastic change whenever she is on any sort of patrol, hunting or border. She almost becomes like a young apprentice again, bubbly, talkative, and eager. Hunting is one of her favourite things to do, and when an extra member is needed on a hunting patrol but no other warrior wishes to volunteer and she has the time, Pantherstar will jump at the opportunity to join in. She's been told that her love for hunting must make her a rather violent cat, but that's not the case at all. Gentleness walks hand in hand with her quiet nature, and she's never sadistic about taking the life of any creature, though she never holds back in a battle when something is on the line.
Pantherstar does not get angry often, but when she does she is definitely a cat to fear. She follows the Warrior code to a T. It's not just a guide to life to her, it's a way of life. If she ever catches any of her warriors breaking it, or cats of other Clans breaking it, there will be Hell to pay. In her opinion, any cat who breaks or even thinks about breaking any part of the Warrior code is showing incredible disrespect to their ancestors, Clan leader, and Clan in general and have to be punished, not just given a talking to, if they are expected to learn any sort of lesson.
REASON FOR NAME: Pantherstar was given the name panther because of her appearance. With her black pelt and green eyes, she resembles a miniature panther. Her warrior suffix of 'claw' came from her preference to her claws compared to her teeth when hunting. Currently her suffix of 'star' comes from her status as her Clan leader.
FAMILY: Mother- Twilightflower (deceased)
Father- Smokewind (deceased)
Siblings- Toadkit (deceased)
HISTORY: Pantherstar’s mother and father were both warriors of BrookClan, much like their daughter in loyalty to their Clan. Her mother, Twilightflower, was tall and muscular with a jet-black pelt, obviously the side of her family which Pantherstar inherited her build and looks. From her father, Smokewind, Pantherstar inherited the skill of hunting and grass green eyes, which had run in Smokewind’s family for generations. Pantherstar’s parents grew up together, and were friends for most of their lives. The pair had had one kit before Pantherstar was born, a frail and sickly kit named Toadkit. Toadkit died sometime in his fifth moon which devastated Pantherstar’s parents and made them weary to try and have another kit, paranoid that he or she would be sickly like Toadkit and die as well. Twilightflower rarely strayed from the nursery when she discovered she was pregnant again.
Pantherstar’s kit hood was rather uneventful. Twilightflower and Smokewind constantly smothered her with attention. She was born early though, and was ill for her first moon or so, much like Toadkit had been. For a time it was unsure if she would survive. Slowly Pantherkit began to grow strong, and by her fourth moon it was clear that the illness was over, and she became a rather energetic kit. She loved to get into trouble, heckle the elders, and explore. Some who know her now would be surprised to learn what she was like when she was younger. When she was young Pantherkit dreamed of the day when she could become an apprentice and begin training to become a warrior and was ecstatic when the day finally arrived.
Pantherpaw’s apprenticeship was far different than the sheltered life she had led inside the nursery. Her mentor was Roseflower, a harsh strict elderly queen who passed on many of her beliefs of mentoring to Pantherstar. Roseflower was nothing like Pantherpaw’s parents. If Pantherstar had been mentored by Smokewind and failed to learn a certain battle move in a day, Smokewind would have likely given her a break and taught hunting the next. Roseflower instead would drill the move into Pantherpaw’s head, insisting that the young apprentice would repeat it without rest until she got it right. To be honest, she scared Pantherpaw half to death sometimes, but as Pantherpaw would get it correct however, Roseflower would almost be like Pantherpaw’s parents, praising and rewarding with kind words. Roseflower died in a battle in Pantherpaw’s 12th moon, just before the apprentice’s evaluation. By that time, Pantherpaw had gotten over her extreme dislike for her mentor. She had begun to view Roseflower as a bit of a second mother, and the she-cat's death hit the young cat hard.
In the same moon as Pantherstar became a warrior, her parents moved to the elder’s den. They still showed the same support of their daughter as always, but didn’t play as active a role in their daughter’s life as they had as warriors. Smokewind died just a moon later as he caught an illness, and though Pantherstar was certainly heartbroken, her mood would have been far worse if not for her mother’s strong spirit. Twilightflower insisted daily that Smokewind was watching them constantly from his place in StarClan, and when it were their times to see them, she and Pantherstar would join him and things would be the same as always. Pantherstar always keeps her mother’s words in mind.
Pantherstar was named BrookClan's deputy in her thirtieth moon, among many other suitable candidates, when the previous deputy retired. She hadn't been expecting the position to be granted to her, but managed to adjust quickly to her newfound responsibilities. She found that she really enjoyed her new position of authority, and looked forward each day to organizing patrols and giving directions. At first some of the other clan members were reluctant to accept the quiet black cat as their deputy, they didn't think she was fit to lead, but she eventually won them over by doing her job efficiently and coming out of her shell to lead the clan when necessary.
One and a half moons ago, the previous leader, Juniperstar, lost his last life to sickness, and Pantherstar was named the new leader. She's a fairly new leader, and being a leader bring many responsibilities that deputies don't have to worry about, but she feels she's adjusting well. The first time she felt the thrill of leading her Clan to the gathering was an intoxicating experience, and she's sure that it shall be one of her favourite parts of each moon for many moons to come.
RP EXAMPLE:It was that time again. Another moon had passed along with all of its events, hardships, and triumphs. New kits had been born, two new warriors named, and an elder had passed on to join the ranks of StarClan simply because it was her time to go. The moon was rising steadily in the sky as the cats of BrookClan rushed across the damp earth towards The Great Oak for the moonly gathering. Pantherstar loved this time of each moon. She had looked forward to them ever since she was a young apprentice, and as a warrior and apprentice she had to admit that her heart had dropped a bit each time her name was not on the list of those chosen to attend. There was something about mingling with the cats of other Clans, gaining insights into their activities and thoughts, that sent a thrill through her bones each time she did so. Looking down at the multi-colored cats of each Clan from her branch on the Great Oak beside the leaders of the other Clans made her marvel at her luck each time she did so.
The black she-cat rushed through the forest of the territory of HillClan, alongside her Clanmates, not in front of them, checking behind her at regular intervals to make sure that no one was being left behind. She saw a young apprentice, one who had only been given a mentor a week ago, straggling along slowly behind his companions, and momentarily dropped behind to urge the young cat onwards with a few encouraging, friendly words. They had plenty of time to reach the gathering before it started. She'd had the Clan members attending head out early so that they had time to dawdle and wait for slower companions. This wouldn't be like last moon, when the gathering had actually had to start without them. Mind you, that hadn't been Pantherstar's fault, nor the fault of any of her Warriors. They had been trying to find Doveheart's kits. The mischievous twosome had snuck out of the nursery in their fourth moon, unwilling to wait another two moons before they could explore the territory, and had somehow managed to escape the camp without being noticed. Kits are the future of all Clans, and so Pantherstar had obviously put priority on finding them than being on time for a moonly meeting. She let out a purr of amusement as she ran, remembering the look on the faces of the two kits when they had been found and scolded. In the coming moon she would make them apprentices, and then they would be able to explore as much as their mentors allowed.
Realizing how close they were to their destination, Pantherstar sent out a yowl of a warning to her Clanmembers, telling them to stop as she rushed back to the front of the group. It was all well for her to run with her warriors on the way to The Great Oak, but she had to be the one to lead them within the view of the other Clans. She had to appear as strong- as strong as she was. Any sign of weakness was something that the other leaders could pounce on for their benefit. She stood at the front of the halted cats until every last apprentice and warrior was caught up with the group and standing at rigid attention for their next instruction. She let her green gaze sweep over them once, giving a curt nod as she counted and found that every last member was accounted for. "Let's go," she meowed in a clear voice for every last cat to hear her before she turned and led her Clan to the gathering.
