Her ice-blue eyes were now wide open and she let out a stiff yawn. She didn't exactly like the fact that it was chillier this morning, but it was new leaf. Anything could happen, and she had a job. She had to take care of the new leaf illnesses, and try to scrounge up the herbs that survived through leaf bare. It was a tedious task, but she was well prepared for it.
She pushed herself up, and stretched her small limbs out. It was almost time to go out and try to find some Juniper Berries, because the stock was low. They had used a bit of it during the leaf bare season, when the prey was scarce, and some of the prey was not as healthy. As Skypaw knew, if a cat had hunger, then it would eat anything, even if it was bad for them. She wished that the cats would be smarter than that, and check the prey thoroughly. It wasn't her place however to judge, and she was only there to learn and try to make ill cats feel better.
She pushed her way towards the back of cave that she was in, where she kept the herbs in a nice and neat pile. She was very organized, and didn't understand why most medicine cats kept their areas unorganized. Since Cherrystripe's death, she was the medicine cat in charge. It was as if she had more stress laid on her, but she didn't crack. It was very hard to crack Skypaw, because she loved being a medicine cat so much. It was something she took great pride in. It was no surprise that after Cherrystripe died, that Skypaw wasn't mourning too hard over it. She had to stay strong, and not let much get to her. It hurt, yes, to lose her mentor, because they were close.
As she shook the thought from her head, she looked at the pile of herbs. It was small, but almost expected since she couldn't find very many herbs. Boulderclan wasn't well known for having an abundant source of herbs. She often had to wander towards the two-leg town, to actually find anything.
Skypaw finally pushed herself to her paws, and wandered towards the entrance. The fluffy white she-cat was trying to sneak out, but she was also prepared to have some sort of interruption. It happened almost all of the time when she had to go herb hunting. She climbed her way out of the cave and flexed her ivory colored claws, looking around quickly. It was a beautiful, and sunny day, minus the fact that it was a bit chilly. Cats were out sun bathing, and sharing tongues. It made her very relieved to see such a sight. For a minute she enjoyed it, and decided to sit down, and just smile up at the sky, waiting for someone to actually take notice to her being out.
