<---- BRINDLEFOOT
female, seventy-two moons
RANK: Medicine cat[/b] Gingerspots - tortoiseshell she-cat with green eyes. She passed on her sense of humor to her daughters. [deceased]
ALLIANCE: BrookClan
APPEARANCE: Dark tortoiseshell she-cat with green eyes.
PERSONALITY:
Brindlefoot, despite being a medicine cat to the bone, is extremely tom-crazy. She loves to flirt and tease, and she's a little notorious for having led a lot of toms on in her more younger days. Infamous even for tricking and having little one-or-two day affairs with rival cats from other Clans, the she-cat sees all males as fair game (especially since she's supposed to be a neutral cat amongst the Clans' politics). But, because of her obligations and the restrictions she's under in StarClan's grasp, she can never take any of her lustings beyond just that — crushes and flirtatious flicks of the tail underneath tense chins before slinking away. Her behavior is frowned upon; she isn't discreet about her poor self-control, and she often gets called out for it. Brindlefoot is always quick to remind that she hasn't technically broken any rules, and that BrookClan has yet to see her deviate from her predetermined path for too long. Cats find it hard to argue with her about this; she uses her status and seniority to manipulate a system that she founds rather fallible. On days when she's bored and/or can't find a cute tom to talk to, she loves to play match-maker.
Brindlefoot has a very blunt way of speaking; she is more often than not talking about things (or in a manner) that makes most modest and conservative cats cringe with uncomfortableness and shock. She's fairly naughty, and her earthiness can be too much for a shy or timid apprentice or warrior to handle. Sparing nobody, she knows no censors. She's this way with everybody under the sun, too, which makes her a valuable advisor in a way to those who adore truthfulness in character. Going with this (or maybe not), Brindlefoot loves to gossip about who's with who, and she lives for a juicy snippet of drama or progress in a cute couple starting to formulate. Her favorites happen to be propaganda for forbidden relationships, or even slander, for she enjoys hearing those tales and theories about cats who occasionally slip off at night going to StarClan-knows-where. It's an actual hobby of hers to try and match cats to others who might be interesting to pair off. Whenever there's a hinting of a nervous or skittish she-cat trying to get close to an either oblivious or equally troubled tom, Brindlefoot can be expected to be there, meddling. The plus, though, is that her matches tend to be of the good kind, not a single couple she's pushed together falling apart.
Despite her (annoying and brusque) aggressiveness in love, she's a nice and fun-loving cat. Brindlefoot has an odd sense of humor that she adopted from her mother and sisters. She loves dark humor, and no matter is beyond her to generalize and humiliate. She can't really crack a good and crafty joke, though, but she doesn't particularly like "smart" and wordy lines in the first place. Her style of humor is whimsical; she relies on sarcasm and taking advantage of certain moments. Her sense of what's funny comes from experience, and she appreciates random and forward humor more than subtle and tasteful humor. Brindlefoot can sound a tad too sardonic or harsh sometimes, frequently coming off too strong on others who aren't as out-going and quirky. In contrast, some cats who are more stoic and serious-natured may find her to be obnoxiously flippant in design. A cat who has little patience wouldn't fare well with Brindlefoot, either, for she does as she pleases in a way that may prolong business.
She doesn't take Clan politics all too seriously, nor does she put a lot of weight on the warrior code. It may sound odd, especially from a medicine cat, but she doesn't see much importance in following restricting laws that limit one's free will and promote violence over what she views as trivial matters. Even though she harbors negative opinions for the way her Clan and others are run, she still abides by the rules set down for her. She doesn't have much of a choice, although in some circumstances she'll rebel and get everyone up into a flurry. Just like everything else, she's not afraid to share her feelings on things, most usually surprising cats with her I-don't-care-does-it-even-matter-I'm-surrounded-by-blood-thirsty-idiots disposition. while not a pacifist, she thinks that a lot of what her Clan does is completely unnecessary. Superfluous behavior makes her angry; she recognizes a lot of useless drama, and she always tends to get ornery when her leader or someone decides to claim war. Brindlefoot does not sugar-coat things; she's not sweet and docile, and she'll pack a good hit if she has to. She's very honest, very opinionated, and very independent.
REASON FOR NAME:
The "brindle" prefix coincides with how she has brown and ginger speckles on her black fur, and the "foot" was added as the official suffix to reference her pelt pattern as being tortoiseshell, emphasizing her coloration and general appearance.
FAMILY:
Father: Alderbranch - dark gray and black tom with amber eyes. He was unfaithful and rather blunt about everything. More often than not his honesty was way too harsh.
Sister: Mallownose - spotted ginger and brown she-cat with green eyes. She's a lax cat and holds a neutral stance between her two sisters.
Sister: Hazelstripe - tortoiseshell she-cat with brown patches and green eyes. She hates Brindlefoot and often acts like a brat.[/ul]
HISTORY:
She was born into a large family. Her old mother always had a very sardonic sense of humor that passed down onto her daughters. The three siblings, despite being female, often pushed each other about and fought, never getting along. Their young father never showed much interest in them, and he sometimes abused their mother by hitting her or verbally tormenting her. The chaos in the nursery toughened Brindlekit up.
When made into apprentices, their father "left" their mother for another she-cat. He was no longer attracted to her since she was a lot older than him. This seemed to affect their mother very negatively, and she died of stress a few moons later. During that time, Brindlefoot originally starts off as a regular apprentice following the path to warriorhood. Her sisters and she become competitive. She begins spending time in the medicine cat's den, trying to find refuge from her aggressive sisters and cheating father. The medicine cat at the time finds her to be promising, and the two develop a sort of friendly relationship, although Brindlepaw's cynicism at such a young age disheartens the medicine cat. Eventually, she was switched over to being a medicine cat apprentice through the persistence of the medicine cat. Her father got very upset with her (although he'd never expressed any interest in what she was doing before). Her sisters also got perturbed with her, but Brindlepaw's new mentor shielded her from these things and got her to work.
Graduating much later than her sisters, she became a full medicine cat beside her mentor. Her sisters had matured during this time, and while Hazelstripe still disliked her, Mallownose began to respect Brindlefoot much more, and they started a very rocky but much more sisterly relationship. During the early moons of her medicine cat career, she reluctantly fell in love with a tom in her Clan whom she'd had an on and off crush on ever since she was apprenticed in general. But, her sister, Hazelstripe, had fallen in love with him too, and Brindlefoot had to sit by and watch as she courted the tom. To her surprise, though, the tom had taken interest in Brindlefoot, not Hazelstripe. The two almost started something, but they weren't secret enough, resulting in Hazelstripe discovering what was going on. She threatened to tell the Clan (Brindlefoot didn't particularly care).
Later, a confrontation erupted between her Clan and another. She was out in the battlefield with her mentor, searching for fallen comrades. A rival cat attacked her, though, and while she was able to hold him off for a little bit, his strength and determination overpowered her. She cried for help, and it was a prolonged while before Mallownose rescued her. She told Brindlefoot that Hazelstripe had just stood by and watched while she was being attacked, which led the both of them to assume that their sister had planned or either wanted for her to be killed or seriously injured during the battle. Nursing ugly scars, she lost the battle with the tom she loved, he eventually fading away to go be with some other she-cat (not Hazelstripe). Hazelstripe confronted her, spitting and snarling at her for purposefully "ruining her entire life," and even going so far as to call her "loose" and a homewrecker. This created a permanent rift between the two sisters.
Equally affected by the tom's leave (and long stifled emotional baggage over her father leaving her mother and letting her die), Brindlefoot did indeed become "loose." She developed her flirtatious behavior. Despite getting older, she became the way she is now, a careless and terribly honest she-cat who doesn't deal with any crap.
