<---- ROOTFROST
tom, 57 moons
RANK: medicine cat[/b] Well, quite honestly, he was darker as a kit. Other than that, however, his mother expected him to grow up strong and stable, like a root.
ALLIANCE: goldenclan
APPEARANCE: skinny, orange tabby tom with a limp and green eyes.
PERSONALITY: Look at that. It's a happy, bouncy, determined apprentice. He's in his hay-day. His father loves him dearly, and, though his mother died, he knows that she wasn't in pain, so he's happy. His mentor is the nicest mentor ever; the two get along great, and are almost always on the same page. He's got friends all around him, and he knows that they love him. You can also practically see the pride flowing off of his father's pelt.
Now, just thought i'd let you know that you are looking at the wrong cat. You've missed the cat I'm talking about in this section. No. He's over there. See him? Sulking in the corner? That's Rootfrost. He's not an apprentice, so I don't know why you thought that happy little thing was him. Whatever. Now that I've got you looking at the right cat, I'll tell you about him.
Rootfrost is a very prickly tom. He doesn't like when cats come to him about small things, like a thorn in their foot or a scratch. He's lived through a lot worse, for Starclan's sake! Usually, when a cat comes to him complaining about something small, it sends him into a fit of grumbles, most of which are about 'mostly blind, and I do fine' and 'can't even deal with a little pain'. He sniffs his way around rather noisily, which is why most cats know when he's coming.
Though he loves his apprentice dearly, Rootfrost is rather rude to him. He snaps at the young tom often, telling him to do stuff and go out to get things. He tries hard at his duty, though, trying his best to make sure the elders are comfortable, and that everyone is okay. Being mostly blind has some advantages. Rootfrost tends to know when something's wrong, and rarely does a cat get away without being treated.
REASON FOR NAME:
Frost: Mainly given because of his frigid and ornery attitude.[/ul]
FAMILY:
Father: Longear- a medium-sized black tom with large ears.[/ul]
HISTORY:
kithood:
Growing up in the nursery with no siblings was quite boring for Rootkit. He had nobody to play with except for his mother. She was super grateful for his existence, because the medicine cat had told her that she might not be able to have kits after a bad accident with a monster. Though lonely, Rootkit was proud to be the only son of Spottedpelt and Longear. His father always wanted a son, and was glad he got one.
apprenticeship:
Rootpaw wanted to make his parents proud. He always wanted to go on patrols of the border with his father, and absolutely loved battle training with his mentor. He visited his mother often in the elder's den, where she'd retired after he became an apprentice. He was an apprentice for about one moon when she died. It wasn't a sickness or an accident, but old age. She accepted it, and he was there with his father when she passed. It was quite peaceful.
His mentor trained him well, and the two became very close. Not all friendships last, however, and this was one case. Just before his warrior ceremony, the two got in a fight during battle training. Rootpaw wanted to go rest, but Owltalon pushed him harder and harder, getting more forceful in his blows every time they had to restart. In frustration, Owltalon lashed out at his apprentice with his claws out, which angered the fiery orange tom. The two got into a full-on battle, which left Owltalon with a half of an ear, and Rootpaw with eye injuries and a badly broken back leg.
Rootpaw healed, though slowly. His left eye was now completely blind, and his right was extremely blurry. He had an awkward limp in his hind leg. The leader told him he couldn't be a warrior in the state he was in. The realization sent Rootpaw into a sour mood that he's never really been able to get out of. He was eventually convinced by his father that he should be a medicine cat apprentice.
MC apprenticeship:
At first, Rootpaw hated being a medicine cat apprentice. Herbs and healing were so boring to him. Slowly, his mentor got him to enjoy healing others. He watched with triumphant eyes the day his old mentor died. The old fool had gotten himself badly beaten up in a border scuffle, which left him weak. He'd gotten greencough. Rootpaw, though slightly relieved that he didn't have to deal with the cat who'd put him in the position he was in, was a bit sad to see his once good friend join Starclan. He got over it quickly the next half-moon when he was told he was going to receive his warrior name.
medicine cat-hood:
Rootpaw was given the name Rootfrost by his mentor, who knew just how frost-like the younger cat's temper was. Rootfrost accepted the name with pride, and now with his warrior name, decided that he would actually try and do everything he could to be the best medicine cat. His mentor caught greencough the very next leaf-bare. Rootfrost did everything he could, but the older cat passed on to Starclan one night. For a while after that, the medicine cat became crankier. He snapped at everything, even his extremely patient father.
It was his father that convinced him that he should take an apprentice. Of course, at 57 moons old, Rootfrost didn't disagree. He knew that he wasn't super old, but old enough, so he named an apprentice.
