<---- FERNWHISPER
she-cat, 29 moons
RANK: warrior[/b] Honeywing- light cream tabby she-cat with deep green eyes [deceased]
ALLIANCE: boulderclan
APPEARANCE: A gray and white she-cat with deep green eyes.
PERSONALITY: Fernwhisper is a gentle cat. She's gentle around kits, gentle around family, and gentle around Badgerthorn. Don't mistake her for being soft, however. The fluffy gray and white she-cat is anything but soft. She's rather good in battle, even if it's not something she enjoys very much. After the death of her father, her main goal was to live up to his hunting abilities.
Fernwhisper doesn't say much. She'd rather just listen and contemplate than rant mindlessly. Because of this, when she says something, others listen. She could be in the middle of a crowd of yelling cats, and one sentence from her mouth silences them all. Others want to hear what she says; it tends to be important and well thought over.
Though she rarely shows it, Fernwhisper has a bit of a temper. She can't stand laziness or stupidity. She firmly believes that acting like a kit should be reserved for just that; kits. There are three stages to Fernwhisper's temper. Rarely does she even get past the first one; slight irritation. Usually cats who get her here are given a warning; something like a 'shut up' or 'stop acting like a kit'. The second stage is 'angry'. It is rare for her to even get this far; she tends to give a lot of lenience to cats, which keeps her at the first stage. She's not a pretty sight when angry. This is usually the stage where other cats get a whack upside the head with her paw. That usually makes them stop. Only once has she ever been at stage three: 'furious'. It was with her sister, and anyone in the camp at the time knows the whole story of it. At this stage, she's all-out yelling. She may nip or whack, but, unless you're not from her clan, she'll never use claws.
REASON FOR NAME: Her grandmother's prefix was also 'fern', and her mother wanted her to be remembered. The 'whisper' part comes from Fernwhisper's ability to say something quietly, yet still manage to make everyone listen.
FAMILY:
Father: Icefoot- dark gray tom with white front paws and gray/blue eyes [deceased]
Siblings:
Sagekit- gray and white she-cat with light green eyes [deceased]
Willowstream- gray she-cat with gray/blue eyes[/ul]
HISTORY:
kithood
Fernkit was born in a litter of three. Her two older sisters were named Sagekit and Willowkit. Fernkit was named after her recently deceased grandmother, Ferntail. Unfortunately, Fernkit's mother, Honeywing, and her sister, Sagekit, caught a sickness. Honeywing died before Sagekit. Fernkit was sad, but she'd never really gotten to know her mother. Sagekit was a different story. Fernkit had visited her sister every day until the little she-cat died. Fernkit became more quiet after that. Her and Willowkit lived the rest of their kit-hoods being passed on from queen to queen in the nursery. It seemed as if every queen they got used to left.
apprenticeship
Fernpaw felt as if she was just being thrown into her apprenticeship. Where Willowpaw thought it was the best day ever, Fernpaw thuoght she wasn't ready. She wanted to go back to the nursery and wait another moon, but she had to do this. So, she became an apprentice. Her mentor was also quiet, and the two got along pretty well. It was in this section of her life that she met Badgerpaw. He was a moon older than her, but the two became pretty good friends. They loved training together.
Fernpaw was in the camp when it happened. She was sitting near the apprentices den, the dead warrior in the middle of the camp, just waiting for him to come back. It was one of the only days she and Badgerpaw hadn't trained together. She watched it happen. Something changed in her friend that day. The day his dad died. She saw it in his eyes. When he found out about his father's death, something snapped. He didn't really react. Fernpaw stayed up all night that night. She didn't sit vigil, but she couldn't sleep. She sat in her nest in the apprentices den until the sunrise.
warriorhood
When she was just over thirteen moons old, Fernpaw was given her warrior name. She was now to be called Fernwhisper. Whisper because she was quiet, but with one sentence could hush a wild crowd. Her sister also recieved her warrior name that day. Willowstream. Her sister was one of the fastest cats in the clan. The suffix suited her.
Willowstream's swiftness didn't do anything to save their father, though. Icefoot, Willowstream and Fernwhisper were all hunting together. They did it often. The three of them loved to hunt, to help feed their clan. It was mid green-leaf. The twolegs were out and about, and before she scented it, the dog was on her. It was a medium-sized beast, but still stronger than her. Her father and sister came in to help her. The three of them could have driven it off. Fernwhisper got out of it's grip and turned on it, but it already had turned on her father.
She attacked with all of her might, and they were winning. Willowstream didn't think they were going to defeat it. She stopped fighting and ran for help. Fernwhisper remembers it in slow motion. Her sister left, and she called out to her. They were winning! There was no need for help! The dog bucked her off of it's back and grabbed for her father. It connected with his back leg and tore him off of the ground. She got up and attacked it again, but it was already too late. The dog had thrown her father against a tree, and she'd heard a loud crack. He wasn't moving. Fernwhisper knew it in her heart; he wasn't coming back. She almost gave up the fight, let the dog take her, too, but she knew she couldn't her father wouldn't be proud of that.
She didn't give up, and when the help arrived, the dog was gone. Fernwhisper was standing over her father's broken body, eyes glazed over in grief. When her sister came to comfort her, she turned away. It was Willowstream's fault he was dead. If she hadn't left, he'd still be alive.
Eventually, the grief and anger got the best of her. Her sister brought Icefoot up one day when she was talking about hunting. Fernwhisper snapped. Willowstream had no right to talk about him! She'd turned her back on both of them when they needed her most! She'd let the dog kill him! They were winning the fight! She is no family of mine.
The last statement was the one that surprised everyone. It had been said in the trademark Fernwhisper whisper. Just loud enough for them to hear. It even surprised Fernwhisper, but deep down she knew it was true. From then on she's turned her back on her sister. Just like Willowstream did to their father.
