<---- MISTPAW
she-cat, six moons
RANK: Medicine Cat Apprentice
ALLIANCE: HillClan
APPEARANCE: A small, silver tabby she-cat with green eyes.
PERSONALITY: Picture a silver streak, racing around camp with paws working so fast she's nothing but a blur. Mistpaw is the type of energetic young cat that makes older Warriors and Elders tired just by looking at her. She's always on the move, always bouncy and eager to help others. When she has somewhere to go, she doesn't leisurely walk to her destination. She dashs; runs as fast as she can as though everything in life is a race. She can never sit still, and even when she's supposed to be perfectly calm, still, and attentive she seems to fidget endlessly.
She's got too much energy for her own good, which makes her bouncy and unfocused. It takes a great deal of concentration for her to focus on any task at hand, whether it be sorting herbs or learning, and that is something she's trying to work on. She knows that in a position that she's in, medicine cat, lives may depend on her concentration, and she'd be absolutely crushed if something happened to another cat on her watch.
Mistpaw is extremely friendly to everyone she meets. She doesn't yet really comprehend that friendships between Clans, while admirable, should end after a certain point. Different Clans are not meant to be best friends, but to Mistpaw everyone is a potential buddy. She has not yet attended a gathering, but is always willing to strike up a happy conversation with anyone she happened to run across on a border patrol. When caught up in a conversation with her, other cats don't need to do much talking. She's all too comfortable doing most of the talking, and can babble on for minutes upon minutes without pause if she's not interrupted or stopped.
Some might say that with all of her energy, Mistpaw would be much better suited as a Warrior's apprentice than a Medicine Cat Apprentice, but the young cat is sure this is where she wants to be. She spent a half-moon training to be a Warrior, but could never become comfortable with all of the battle and hunting training. Something just felt very off about it to her. When she gave being a medicine cat apprentice a shot, she was amazed at how easily she slid into the role, even if she still has trouble concentrating enough to learn everything. She would much rather be helping the wounded than wounding.
REASON FOR NAME: Mist- She was born on a very misty/foggy morning, when the visibility was poor, and 'Mist' was her mothers preferred prefix to 'Fog'.
Paw- She's only an apprentice
FAMILY: Icewing- Mother - HillClan Warrior - 40 moons
Shineheart - Father - HillClan Warrior - 41 moons
Jayfrost - Brother - HillClan Warrior - 20 moons
Wavepaw - Brother and littermate - HillClan apprentice - 6 moons
HISTORY:
Icewing and Shineheart, Mistpaw's parents, had one litter before Mistpaw was born. In that litter there were born five kits. They were born when the weather dropped, each were rather sickly, and each soon caught an illness that only one, Jaykit, survived. Because of the tragedy with their first litter, Icewing and Shineheart didn't want any more kits, fearing the same fate would come to them, but then along came Wavepaw and Mistpaw.
The two were born towards the end of Leaf-Fall when temperatures were again dropping on a chilly, misty evening, and were very sheltered for their first few moons. Icewing kept a close eye on her kits, barely letting them stray out of sight of her vigilant eye. This was okay with Wavekit, who was quite a calm young cat and rather liked his quiet lifestyle, but didn't sit well with Mistpaw who only wanted to get out and explore the world. In her fourth moon, while her mother's back was turned, she snuck out through the nursery entrance, dashing quickly past the sleepy elders, and making it ten metres away from camp before she was caught by the Clan leader and her older brother, one of the newer Warriors of the Clan, Jayfrost. She was sternly scolded by her leader and threatened with the delay of her apprenticeship, but when her sixth moon rolled around she was given a mentor as usual.
For the first quarter and a half moon of her apprenticeship, Mistpaw was trained as a Warrior. She was run through the usual patrols, hunting strategies, and battle maneuvers. She absorbed everything in, but soon realized that she wasn't happy with her current path. What she looked forward was getting out into the territory among the sights and smells and plants. She never looked forward to hunting or battling. In fact, she'd often lag behind her mentor to gaze and this plant or that plant, causing much frustration to her mentor. Soon enough her mentor spoke to her about her distractibility and its reasons, and the pair came to the conclusion that Mistpaw was just not happy following the life of a regular warrior.
After speaking to the medicine cat, Mistpaw was accepted as the Medicine Cat Apprentice. She's held the position for about a week now, and it has been a trying time and a constant test of her focus. All of the memorizing and learning to be a Medicine Cat seems to be far more than the battle maneuvers and hunting strategies she had to learn before, and Mistpaw often finds her mind wandering, but she means well and is determined to succeed.
